is there a feature similar to the "People" Switch in Google chrome ?

This feature, allowing one to switch from one state (profile) to another ON THE FLY without the need to restart the browser at all, is the only thing I really miss from using using Google browsers. It has been quite a long time not playing around with FF so maybe there is something similar somewhere now because it was not there back then. FF Profiles are nice but this so-called states are way nicer

Thank you

One can "launch a profile into a new window" from the about:profiles page, which is somewhat similar to switching. Point is you got to create a new profile in the first place before you see that link

Apparently Quora is faster at this. All credits to Bob Thomson, check here

Yes, sorry most of us do not use Chrome so the People thing is unknown to me.

Glad you found your solution. Could you please Mark yourself as the solution so turns up solved and others can find the answer. Thank you.

Unfortunately, that button may not work for you. As of Firefox 58 (I don't know about future releases) on Windows (I don't know about Linux), the "launch" button always gives me a new window in the current profile instead of the one I selected. I guess YMMV.

Instead, you may need to use a desktop shortcut with some extra parameters. For example, on Windows, you could set the target to launch a profile named Private as follows:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "Private" -no-remote

or if you want to launch the profile manager to select a profile on the fly:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P -no-remote

Maybe someday this will be easier.

Thank you jscher2000 for the enlightenment on this matter. The no-remote command switch is indeed necessary here. Hum, a better solution than the one selected is needed now...working on it
