A few years back I found a way in "Options" online to set my Thunderbird so that when I get an on screen pop up message notifying me of a new email that the notification popup stay on the screen indefinately. The reason why I did this was so that if I walked away from my laptop and some time later whether 1 minute or 6 hours the pop up notification would still be on the screen. I did this so I would not have to open thunderbird each time or switch to it if on some other screen. This was while I was self employed.

Now that I am retired I don't want this notification to stay on my screen all the time now until I check and see my new email. I just want it back to normal where I can set the limited amount of time where the notification pop up will stay on my screen. I have no idea how to do this nor do I remember what the article said to do that I followed. I do remember that this setting was not in the normal "options" section but you had to go into the "guts" of thunderbird and make a change. Sorry if that does not make sense.

Thanks for your help

Ok, these old eyes missed the link in the email. The color of the link was almost the same color as the block that it was in so was hard to see when I scrolled down.

You can adjust the display time for the alert by using the Config editor. Go to.. Options-Advanced-Config Editor Enter Alerts.total in the search box.

Right click and select Modify. I cannot remember what the number value is but i have mine set for 6000 and it does not last too long for me.

Thanks for your help AirMail

On a side note the email notification that I received that someone (you answered in this case) does not provide a link back to my thread/post. All the email says is if it was solved or not solved. It took me a while to find the post and figure how to answer you.

Guessing with this issue many first time or second time users like me never make it back to read the replies as without links navigating back can be quite challenging.

Interesting. A link is usually included. I am on an Android tablet and my email has a big blue button to post a reply.

Either way, if you click on your name beside one of your posts you go to your profile with all your posts listed. Here is that link. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/user/firemark You might want to bookmark it.
