Cannot close Thunderbird on computer screen.
I believe I can receive and process email but cannot get Thunderbird to close or minimize unless I turn the computer off.

And what prevents you from closing Thunderbird?
All I know is that when I select the X in the top right corner of the screen in Thunderbird, there is no response. I was able to close it by right clicking the task bar and selecting Thunderbird then remove(?). I do get a drop down that says "The account cjnewman3@verizon.net is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages."
What is your anti-virus software?
Regardless of that, the commended way to close Thunderbird is via the menu button:
at the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Quit
I have the same problem (can not close out Inbox by selecting the X in the upper right corner). I also get the message about the account is being processed and please wait to get messages. I also note that when I cannot close out, I click on the thunderbird symbol in the task bar and several miniature e-mails are spread across the bottom of the screen. Right clicking on the Thunderbird icon in the taskbar and selecting "Close all Windows" does not close out those miniature e-mails that are spread across the bottom of the screen. A friend recommended that I uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it. I do not know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. John

This is John again. I posted my question/problem above but it is not obvious where or how I get a reply. It seems to me that this Support website could use some upgrading also. John
John again. This website keeps asking me to Post a Reply. It should ask me to post a question and let me know how, where or when I will receive a reply, not post one.
jomar555,

This is a repost of my original request for help. How, when or where does the answer come from. I don't understand the "Post a Reply" instruction. I cannot post a reply, I am LOOKING for a reply.
