When I try to open old emails in my inbox they will not open. The 466th and older email will not open. I just get a blank email when I open it. The 466th email is from April 20th of last year 2017. It is now January 29, 2018. I can open much older emails that I catagorized in folders, but not the ones in the inbox. I cannot view them even if i move them to a new folder. I don't know if the 466 number is consistent or not, I just thought of counting it today.

sounds like you have an index with a lot of mail that no longer exist. Right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button to reindex the mail including only what exist.

Did you get a notice from your anti virus that is found something in an email and offered to automatically fix it for you? The automatic fix is usually to delete all the mail in the folder and because it happens from outside Thunderbird the mail index is not updated. So you do not realize just how destructive that automatic fix was until much latter.

Does that mean that I cannot fix the problem to view the old emails? I can view emails that old and older that are in folders. It is just the ones in the Inbox I cannot view.

I have not opened an email like you referenced, but there is one that I did open that I am pretty sure was a virus. What would you recommend to get rid of the virus?
