not syncing on iOS

for some reason, the last few versions of firefox i've had in iOS have not been syncing with my sync account.

when i go to settings, tap the sync now line - it will sync however it will give the timestamp of 2017-10-19 10:35:03 ..... that's clearly not today's date.

it seems to work with various versions of firefox i use (mac os, windows 10), but for some reason it's not doing so well on iOS.

i have tried tapping my name and looking under the Devices & apps to make sure those which are on my account are appearing, and they are. also kicked out older instances of devices as well as the phone i am working with, tried logging back in and doing a new sync .... still not working and stuck on that same sync time stamp.

any ideas other than the obvious uninstall/reinstall ?
