My email server as been installed by following this tutorial.

https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/perfect-server-ubuntu-16.04-with-apache-php-myqsl-pureftpd-bind-postfix-doveot-and-ispconfig/

I have two domains and domain without IDN codes works fine and I can add it to Thunderbird. I don't have IDN codes in name part of email address only in domain names. I have try to change login / server etc. names with and without IDN codes.

DOmain with IDN codes works also when I login to my Roundcube webmail.

Thunderbird allows sending emails with IDN based email addresses. Whether you can set up an account with an IDN based email address I don't know.
