in Profiles 'Imap Mail/Mail', what is file 'nstmp-7'? Can I delete it?

I save part of Profiles every month as backup -- I like to delete any files that are not necessary.

It says here that they are temporary files created by Thunderbird when compacting. So you shouldn't need them in your backup.

But if they appear regularly I'd want to find out what's causing it.
