Incorrect identity name on email received or sent but only when doing a mail search.
This is very strange, when I receive email or in-fact send e-mails everything on the surface is correct. But when I use the search box to find a particular mail it show up with the name "Robert Tomas” So if I look at the mail it would show that it’s from me: "glenn@rvtransformers.com" to “julia@peycibeau.com” yet if I then search for the mail in the search box ie: search= julia
It will show both the to and from mail but instead of showing my name it shows: "Robert Tomas” I have looked at all of the identities on the mail client and they are and have been set up correctly and have worked correctly for years.
I have tried to attached 3 images showing the search screen and then the two e-mail examples but I cannot seem to get these to upload
Chosen solution
click on 'Address Book' select 'All Address Books' Do a search for Robert Tomas to see if that name appears anywhere.
Check Reply-to settings and outgoing server.
Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
Is there any mention of Robert Tomas in a 'Reply-to Address: field ?
If yes correct this by removing.
bottom of left pane... select 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' Select each smtp server in turn and check the details of any 'User Name' which should be your own email address as per account. click on 'OK'
Reset the global search database to see if it is corrupted.
Make hidden files and folders visible:
In Thunderbird
- Help > Troubleshooting Information
- click on 'Open folder' button
A new window opens showing the contents of your Profile name folder.
- Close Thunderbird now - this is important.
- scroll down, locate and delete this file: global-messages-db.sqlite
a new one will be created.
- Start Thunderbird.
- Perform a global search as before.
The global search database will rebuild. Check results.
