When copying text from Word to a mail in TB I get an extra empty line between each line, how do I avoid this? I want to keep the formatted text created in Word

The same extra empty lines occurs when writing text in a Thunderbird mail unless Shift Return is used instead of normally just Return. I looking for a solution that removes the extra empty lines in both cases.

It sounds like you press return at the end of each line, rather than just letting it flow and wrap automatically.

We discourage the practice of copy-and-paste from word processors because of the unpredictable behaviour, and the sheer bulk of hidden and useless formatting code.

Send yourself a message composed as you describe, and use ctrl+u to see its raw source. You'll be hard pressed to find your message text in among all the futile mso formatting bumf.

Have you changed the setting at Tools|Options|Composition|General? Try clearing the checkbox "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default". This will prevent the insertion of some of those blank lines.
