Receiving suspicious emails from my own address.
Recently, I began receiving suspicious emails marked junk by Thunderbird that carry my own name and email address as the originator. My address appears in both the from and to lines. What's going on? If I continue the junk designation and delete the email, am I putting my account address in danger for receiving emails in the future? Thank you, K.T.

Hi KT, I don't know what to recommend.
It's okay if Thunderbird recognizes that it's weird to get messages from yourself, we just don't want your mail service provider to think you are designating your own address as a spammer.
If you are sending messages straight to Trash and not moving them into a Junk folder that synchronizes back to your IMAP account, I think you're probably safe leaving them marked as Junk.

Hi K.T., spammers do this because they assume you won't block your own address. The sender address can be forged and there's nothing you can do about it.
You should not tell your mail service provider that your address is a junk sender -- don't move mail around in ways that your mail provider might "learn" that -- but if you create or train a junk filter within Thunderbird, I think that is for your eyes only.
Thank you for your reply. The messages are marked as junk by Thunderbird. All I have done is delete them. Today's messages are still sitting in my Trash folder. Should I unmark them as Junk before deleting?
