re:exceeded number of entries on IMAP server (or words to that effect)
Perhaps the server was talking about Cached Connections ? You can connect to a IMAP server as often as you want, but you may be restricted in the number of simultaneous channels that are open during that connection.
Info:
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/IMAP:_advanced_account_configuration
where to find this in Thunderbird...
- right click on imap mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
- Select 'Server Settings'
- click on 'Advanced' button
- 'Maximum number of connections to cache default is 5.
- You could try lowering that number to 3.
- click on all Ok's
If you access emails via an apple device make sure you have disconnected when not using. They apparently have no limit in the number connections they will use.

The error is from the IMAP server. This would be your provider. Thunderbird is email client software running on your computer. There are no Thunderbird servers.
