Profile Missing Error

Every time I open firefox, I get 3-4 times this error "Profile missing".

I tried all the suggestions by the mozilla support, and even reinstalled firefox, but nothing helped. When opening firefox, or when opening a tab, this error comes, and I click Ok and it goes and I continue using firefox.

This really drives me crazy. What is the solution !?

are you using an older version of kaspersky security products? if yes, please either update or remove them.

Did you upgrade to Firefox 57.0.1 ?

It has a fix for the "Profile is missing" - but I suspect there was more than one thing that caused that issue.

Yes, I un-installed firefox, and then re-installed the newest version today.

You can check the content of profiles.ini in a text editor to see what profile with Default=1 it links to.

You can find the profiles.ini file in this hidden location:

  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/

Here is the content of C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\profile.ini :

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1

[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/ct27c211.default

And here are the content of the following folder :

C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

ct27c211.default

So, what should I do now !?

Wow!! I un-installed Kaspersky, and voila !! This solved the problem.
