I already tried opening about:config and do not have "security.tls.version.fallback-limit = 1" listed, as some of the other threads suggest. I am on an older Mac running 10.6.8 and almost every website I attempt to go to gives me this message: "An error occurred during a connection to support.mozilla.org. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)"

I appreciate any help in solving this. Thanks.

It seems likely you are running an old version of Firefox on that mac. It is not advised you run old, out of date and unsupported software to surf the web, as it is insecure and can lead to issues like this.

Did you try to install the Firefox 48.0.2 release version or Firefox 45.9.0 ESR like suggested in the article?

If there a problem with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the Disk Image file to the desktop

Best would be probably to create a new profile since your current version is very old. See "Creating a profile":
