I wish to view the folder pane on the right side of Thunderbird so that I can move it to the right side of my screen.

(Apple's unmovable notifications interfere with my browser tabs, so I want to switch the browser and Thunderbird.)

Chosen solution

Right-click any column button to select the desired columns, and rearrange the order of the buttons by drag-and-drop.

Moving the Thunderbird window to the right side of your screen to avoid Apple's unmovable notifications, does not depend upon whether the 'Folder Pane' is visible or not or it's location. The width of the window is also detemined by you.

As yet, I have not discovered a way via userChrome.css to move the Folder Pane.

To use Thunderbird without the folder pane as this reduces width : Right click on toolbar area and select 'Customise... ' Drag the 'Folder Location' control and drop it on your toolbar. Use the control instead of the folder pane to select accounts and folders.

Hi, thank you for your detailed reply. I found your advice to use the folder Location. I wonder if there is a way to now reorder the columns. Thanks very much!

Hey, thanks, I'd really like to understand what you are saying but I don't. Can you show a screenshot of column buttons? I have columns, not sure what buttons you refer to - thanks!!

Yes, I have done all of that with the exception of that mine don't drag. It says I am up to date, 52.4.0 (64-bit). Is that what I should be using? Thanks!

AH! They don't drag per se, but I have just discovered that I can sort of hop skip them over eachother! Thanks!

Wow! Thanks sfhowes and Toad-Hall!

After I was able to get it the way I want it I was able to 'apply to all folders and children'! I love this. I don't know if it is because I am left handed or what, but I really wanted the desktop arrangement reversed. I'll see if I like it and I can always switch it back. Thanks so much for your time!
