When I have read a message can I move on to the next message without closing the existing one?

I have recently switched to Thunderbird from EMClient. In EMClient I was able to move on to the next or previous message by clicking on an up/down arrow. Is this available in Thunderbird?

Chosen solution

Use the F (forward) and B (back) keys to move through the messages, whether they are viewed in a tab, window or the Message Pane. Forward and Back buttons can be added to the Mail Toolbar (right-click the toolbar, Customize, drag the buttons onto the toolbar).
