Cannot send e-mail.
I can receive e-mail, but cannot send e-mail. When I try to send an e-mail, I get a message that reads: Login to server smtp-server.twcny.rr.com failed.
I tried the following: I reset my password with my ISP, but that did not solve the problem. I ran check disk on my hard drive and it reported no problems. I tried using a backup copy of my hard drive but that did not solve the problem.
I contacted my ISP and they told me that everything was OK on their end, that all my server settings are correct, and that I should contact Mozilla.
I tried contacting Mozilla and was told to take a screenshot of my smtp settings which I did, but I could not find a provision for sending it to Mozilla. I tried to include it below but got a message that it is too large. Finally, on the Mozilla website I found this forum and so here I am asking for help.

When you reset your password, did you change it in TB, under Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, Show passwords, right-click an entry, Edit password?
The settings for TWC are (outgoing server): mail.twc.com on port 587, Connection security = none, authentication = password, transmitted insecurely, User name = full email address.

This solved the problem, thank you very much. I have been struggling with this issue for a week now.
It seems the solution was only to change the port to 587, I don't know why the port was set wrong since I did not make any changes in my server settings and yet suddenly I could not send e-mail.
Also, you said the outgoing server address is mail.twc.com however last week Spectrum customer support told me to set the incoming server to mail.twc.com and that the outgoing server (which my setting is set to) is smtp-server.twcny.rr.com Is that OK?
So the first thing I tried was your suggestion to change the port number to 587 and wella! I was able to send e-mail again.
Again, thank you very much!
Their current instructions recommend mail.twc.com for both the incoming and outgoing servers (different ports) but if the one you have is working, I see no reason to change it. The main drawback is that the non-secure connection security may mean you cannot send through that server if you're not connected to the TWC network, e.g. with a mobile device on a non-TWC network. One option in this case is to add the TWC account to a gmail or outlook account and set the TWC account to send through the (secure) server provided by those services.
