Just starting using Mozilla Thunderbird. My INBOX now has 17000 entries! How do I delete them to start again? Are they using up space on my hard drive? If not I could just leave them there!

To the second question, if they are in 'local folders' or is the mail coming down from the mail-providers' server as a POP3, it surely is taking up hard drive space.

Are these 17000 emails all in one email account/folder?

One of the quickest and easiest ways to corral this in the future is with the use of message filters: ` Menu > Message Filters > `, secondarily you can also set your `Storage & Synchronization` settings to only collect locally those emails with a finite time period ( Personally I do 14 days locally and keep 90 days on the server).
