I do not want mail to go out automatically when I push send. I see now that if I go into the menu on a particular msg, I can choose send later and it goes to my outbox. How do I set that globally?

To send messages in the Outbox, File/Send Unsent Messages.

I don't think you can globally change Send to Send Later, but it's possible to add a Send Later button to the Write window, and to schedule sending with another add-on.

See this discussion for more options.

Thanks. From the menu, I sent one msg to my outbox, then couldn't figure out any way to send it since there is only a "get messages" and no send messages button

Chosen Solution

You can also RtClick on your Outbox and pick the "Send Unsent Messages" option.

OR -- the brute force method -- click the icon at the bottom left of the T-Bird window and put it in Offline mode so it cannot send anything until you put it back Online.

More than one way to skin a cat, as the folks used to say.
