show only read messages
Anyone know how to show only read (not unread) messages in a folder? Is there a button or shortcut anywhere? Thanks :)
Chosen solution
I am having trouble imagining a scenario where eliminating unread messages would be useful. OTOH, displaying only unread messages makes a lot of sense.
Some ideas for you.
- Sort by unread. This will gather together the read messages.
- Set up a custom view using the Mail Views toolbar widget. You can add this via the usual toolbar customization procedure.
- Set up a Saved Search folder.
- The TotalQuickFilter add-ons offers an "invert" option, so having selected unread then inverting, you'd have only read messages showing. (But I have to say I found the description for this add-ons made it look impenetrable and I haven't felt sufficiently motivated to try it for myself.)
So, seriously, how often do you imagine you'd use this option? Does it justify a permanent button, or a reusable viewing option such as a Mail Views setting or a Saved Search? Presumably at some point you will have read all the messages at hand, so screening out unread messages would have no effect. So what special circumstances make already read messages interesting?

Suggesting another option for the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quick-filter-toolbar, a "read" button, to display only the 'read messages' in a folder.

> OTOH, displaying only unread messages makes a lot of sense. For the average user that is probably true ;)

> Sort by unread. This will gather together the read messages. Yes, of course, done that (but see above, hence the question).
> Set up a custom view using the Mail Views toolbar widget. > You can add this via the usual toolbar customization procedure. Could not find it, how does one go about it?
> Set up a Saved Search folder. Found that, though this seems like a last resort (b/c of the huge archives).
> The TotalQuickFilter add-ons offers an "invert" option Awesome, thank you SOOO much for this tip. It works wonderfully!
> So, seriously, how often do you imagine you'd use this option? VERY oft, since I must attend to the archives regularly!
> Does it justify a permanent button, or a reusable viewing option YES :)
Thanks again, adn again, and again! I should have asked years ago!
