I have studied all settings concerning Firefox, (latest 64 bits) (Start next seesion with the tabs I had last), IObit ASC (Keep History), IObit Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, Iolos System Mechanic and of course I have googled on the issue (every article is about getting rid of history) still after next restart of Windows, all the earlier tabs are gone and there is no history. I have to find the sites I visited earlier once more. I want to keep the history! Please help. Jiger

Chosen solution

Well, I think I have solved the problem: a setting in IObit Asc (start protection was the issue) cleaning out among other things many Firefox settings in spite of the fact that I had unchecked history.

After a while: It wasn´t that easy, I don´t know how to stop the start protection to start with Windows. It doesn`t matter to uncheck to program from starting with windows and it can´t be found in the task manager under autostart, I have disabled the service - no help.

Just a quick thought here have you set options in olos System Mechanic not to cleanup Firefox as it will wipe out history also.

You can try this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save if the above settings are correct in System Mechanic

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Iolo System Mechanic is checked as well as Ccleaner and IObit Asc etc. Refresh Firefox has not helped. user,js file is empty. All the settings in Firefox are left where they should. In fact everything works OK as long as I don´t restart the OS. I have this problem in both my computers (ASUS Laptop and ASUS desktop new since about 7 months) since the Creators Update.

Solution: Check the settings in Ccleaner, I didn´t do that thoroughly.
