I am using FireFox Portable from Sourceforge on my Windows 10 ASUS Tablet. It has, from the beginning, complained cookies were not enabled. However, they are enabled in the settings.

Today, I let it update from 53.0.2 to 54.0.1 and my xMarks quit working. Turned out the probllem with the cookies storage was causing the problem.

After trying so many suggestions from so many sites, I decided to try a fresh install and go back one version.

Inside FireFox, I cleared cache, forms, history, cookes, etc. I wiped everything I could find. I unstalled FireFox and ran CCleaner to make sure nothing was left behind.

I reinstalled FireFox 53.0.2 and noticed that it was seeing my old directory installation (which it shouldn't have been if I had truly cleaned everything) and now it complains not only that cookies are not enabled, but local storage is not enabled either.

I am completely lost what to do now. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

i already tried that .... but keep in mind that I don't have sufficient room to use standard build on my tablet, which is why I use the portable.

However, I did resolve the problem.

The short answer, is that I located the profile directory in the %data% directory and deleted it.

I then installed a fresh copy, which then complained of missing a profile.

Somewhere I found directions to delete a file (something ending in .ini) to force FireFox to create a default profile.

That worked. I was then able to restore everything from FireFox Sync. Well almost everything . A few add-ons did not restore and Dashlane was corrupted and had to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

Hi

I would recommend either contacting the support team for Firefox Portable (which we do not support here), or using a Mozilla build of Firefox.
