My Tbird connection stopped working out of the blue - any advice? Error: "Unknown command"

more options

Hi! Tbird stopped working out of the blue for only 1 of my multiple email accounts.

My other accounts (same email provider) are working fine. The Error reads: "Unknown Command b1mb298679037pjb"

I have tried cancelling and re-initializing the email account password/connection - still get the same error.

I am looking to find out re: what the error means, and suggestions on how to resolve.

Thank you!

Did you talk to your email provider?

Hi christ1 - thanks for your reply. I am assuming the problem has something to do with the connection to Thunderbird. The email account seems to be working fine when I log on through the email provider's website . My other accounts with the same email provider are working fine on Thunderbird. If I can't figure it out from the Thunderbird side, I can try the email provider as you're recommending - although it might be easier (I hate to say it) to migrate from Thunderbird to another interface to see if this may resolve it too...

Double check the security and anti-virus options.

Its possible they may be hindering the connection especially if the inbox has an infected email.

Its possible the invalid command is an infection in a email and its trying to access your contacts and sending out emails to all of them.

Its also possible the inbox is corrupted.

First try a checkdisk on that drive where the email boxes are located.

Another trick is to create a new inbox for that email account (but disable the corrupted account bu temporarily modifying its server address), and re-download everything.
