I downloaded and installed Thunderbird email, checked messages and closed Microsoft Edge. Now I can't find out how to access TBird again.

You do not log into Thunderbird. It is email client software that installs on your computer. If you actually installed it you will have a shortcut icon to open it with just like any other program on your computer.
