I am using Thunderbird Version 52.1.1 on a Mac OSX Sierra version 10.12.5 with Google's IMAP server. I am a long time user. My machine is idle, but I am getting significant delays when I type while composing messages. I only see this in Thunderbird - not other tools like the terminal window.

This problem has happened before. Usually compacting folders fixes it. No luck this time. I also have tried rebooting but the problem seems to come back.

I keep my inbox pretty clean (only a few messages) and have an extensive history in lots of folders.

Not sure what to do.

-Joe

I have just fixed memory issues by deleting the file global-messages-db.sqlite.

use the button in the troubleshooting information on the help menu to open your profile folder. Close Thunderbird. Delete the file and please report if it actually helps.
