Chosen solution

Solved the problem by myself, Had to use Chrome to do it ironically, Cheers anyway.

Is it this one or a different one?

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/better-twitch-chat/

Sometimes a connection error can be temporary, but if it keeps happening, there might be a problem with a redirect failing.

Try downloading the add-on. Then drop the file into the browser window.

No, it's not, It's this one which unfortunately is not in the Firefox add-on section but on its own website https://nightdev.com/betterttv/#

Used to have it a long time ago but I've just reinstalled FF.

I could be blind but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a manual download otherwise I would.

I see a huge, green download button   ......

This is the direct URL to the extension file:

https://nightdev.com/betterttv/firefox/betterttv.xpi

If you right-click > Save Link As, can Firefox download the file?

As far as I can tell, it's a direct download and doesn't redirect (which has caused problems for some users in the past).

(Downloading first was what FredMcD was suggesting in general terms before you mentioned the site you were using.)
