Since upgrading to TB 52.1.1 email composition for non-HTML is limited to 80 characters per line. How can I change that?

more options

I used to have plain text emails as free flow with line length in composition limited only by the width of the window. Since the update that changed. I did find the article about Flowed Format (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plain_text_e-mail_%28Thunderbird%29#Advanced) , but there is no information provided on how to get to those settings. I know of the origin of the 80 character limit, but these days it appears antiquated and it is rather annoying to have a big edit window and use only a tiny fraction of it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Chosen solution

I think you need to adjust the 'wrap' settings according to that article.

The settings can be found in the config editor.

In Thunderbird, you go to Tools|Options|Advanced|General and click the button labelled "config editor".

I did find the settings...thank you for that hint. I set mailnews.display.disable_format_flowed_support to true and mailnews.send_plaintext_flowed to false (each the opposite of what it was set to) and restarted TB. That did not have any effect. I changed both back and restarted TB, no change. Seems as if neither option address the issue I encounter.

What else can I do to remove the line length limitation especially when creating plain text emails?

The wrap settings did the trick! Set line length to 200 and wrap long lines to false. Thank you so very much!!
