I open Thunderbird and it opens 3 seperate windows and when I minimize it keeps 3 icons in the taskbar

When I launch Thunderbird it open 3 separate windows even keeps 3 windows when it is minimized it keeps 3 icons in the task bar.

Chosen solution

Press the ALT or F10 key to show the menu bar, then:

For the additional windows use File: Close (NOT Quit, but Close)

For the last window use File: Quit

Open Thunderbird, there should only be one window now.

I'm having this issue today..only it's two not three. I'm not sure I understand the solution. I press alt or F10 and nothing happens?? Also, I always click on the x in the top right corner to close the program, which actually minimizes it. can someone help me?

Ok, I restarted with addons disabled and then restarted again and it appears to be fixed. Thanks anyway!
