Can't import mailboxes from Apple Mail

I'm having major problems with Apple Mail right now and, who knows? , maybe the is related to why I can't import my mailboxes into Thunderbird. But that's just the issue right now—when I go through the Import process, it says "No mailboxes found". Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your suggestions! I can export to mbox files but I can't import them still. I'm probably doing something wrong—I'm just using Import from the TB Tools menubar. I'm not sure what you mean by either "direct copy into Local Folders or with ImportExportTools."

This all sounds like it should work but I'm getting nothing. I tried it with larger folders/subfolders, then single subfolders, and everything just looks empty (see attached).

I'm beginning to think that my Mail issues are affecting this, too. Thanks for trying to help me. I'm at a loss as to what is happening.
