Why does Thunderbird ask for password every time I open it?
I have used Thunderbird for several years but since installing on new laptop I get asked for password every time I open it and sometimes when I send emails

Do you use GMail? If you do you'll need to allow access to apps in your GMail settings.
No, do not use GMail
Unless you tell Thunderbird to remember your password you'll be prompted for it when needed.
