I am constantly getting "Not Responding" and have to wait. What do I need to do so that I stop getting "Not Responding?"

While writing an email or responding to an email I suddenly stop and can't type anything and get "Not Responding" and my message turn white, everything turns white and I can't do anything. A few minutes goes by and it starts working again and I can continue writing or responding, but then it happens again. Very frustrating. What do I need to do to not have this happen? Thanks for your help!

What is your anti-virus software?

I was told we use Microsoft e-net. Thanks!

I have no idea what 'Microsoft e-net' is.

Anyway, try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode - Win8 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17076/windows-8-startup-settings-safe-mode - Win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode

Does the problem go away?
