I don't see the icon to show me I have received a new email. I don't want to hear a sound, I just want to see the tray icon.

Assuming you have the option enabled under Tools/Options/General, the icon might disappear after a time if it is not set to be displayed in Windows.

Under Settings/Personalization/Taskbar, click 'Select which icons appear on the taskbar', then turn the switch for TB to 'On'.

I still can't see when I get a new message. When I was using Windows Live, an envelope would show up on the taskbar, but now I don't see any notice of a new email.

I think it's fixed!!!! Thank you very much. I just wish the envelope was a different color than white. But oh well.
