How can I get my browser, google, to remember my user name and password?
How can I get my browser, google, to remember my user name and password?
Chosen solution
If the password is saved in Firefox's password manager, you can edit it on the Options page:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
In the left column, click Security. Then on the right side, find the "Saved Logins" button.
After opening that dialog, click the Show Passwords button. If you have set a Master Password (recommended!), enter your Master Password to add the Password column to the dialog.
To change a password, double-click it to make it editable, then type in the new value and tab out or click away from that box. Firefox should save the change immediately.
Does that work?

Are you confused about what a web browser is?
Google Chrome is a web browser as is Firefox, while Google is a search engine. A user name & password isn't needed to use the Google search engine.
Hi barlettf, many websites make it difficult for password fillers like Firefox's password manager to log you in automatically. However, after you log into Google using Firefox (or another browser), Google will set a cookie that keeps you logged in from page to page and, if you don't clear cookies when you close Firefox, and you weren't using a private window, from session to session. If you think the problem is that your Google cookies are getting cleared, there are a number of possible reasons for that. Rather than bombard you with possibilities, let us know if you think that might be the issue.
Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
- Options/Preferences -> Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"
There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically. The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server. If this "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you and you will have to sign in once again.
I open Mozilla. When Firefox starts my home page by default is Google. When I sign in to my Gmail it asks for my email address. When I add my address it asks for my password. I recently changed my password but the old password comes up in the password box. How can I change this so that the new password appears all the time?
