When I receive an email, it shows my husband's name as the receiver, not mine. How do I fix this?

I recently noticed that when I click on any email I received it shows the correct name in "From", then It shows the "Subject" but in "To" it now shows my husband's name, not mine. I tried to edit it in contacts but it won' let me change it.

Blue?????

I've only seen it to be empty or yellow, like in my screenshot below. I have no idea what it being blue means!

Look at your contacts in your Address Book anyway like I said, finding any contact that has your e-mail address. Delete them all except for one, and make sure that one has your name in the "Display" name.

Then quit Thunderbird and reboot your computer.

In an e-mail that you receive, the name that is in the "To" section is what the person wrote, who sent you the e-mail. This is not something that you have any control over on your computer.

You could send me an e-mail with the name "Computer Guy" with my e-mail address, and that is what I would see in the "To" field when I look at the e-mail.

You can ask that person (and others), to change their entry for you in their address book so it says your name instead of your husbands.

Thanks, Bruce, for trying to help, but unfortunately your suggestion isn't going to solve the problem.

The change happened to ALL of my emails - from my sister - who obviously knows my name - as well as my friends, my health insurance company, my bank, & companies I have ordered from online, etc. They all USED to send them to me, with my first name showing in "To:" That's what's so baffling - they ALL changed to my husband's first name! Weird!

Is this in the regular folders?

I do see some unfortunate selections occurring in the Global Search results. When a message that was sent to me is shown in search results, it often chooses one of the less obvious identities associated with the email address.

Ah. You didn't say originally that the name changed for past e-mails. That is an important piece of information.

When you see your husband's name in the "To", is the star beside it yellow? If so, that means that the e-mail address in the "To" field is connected to a "contact" in one of your Address Books. That contact has your husband's name as the "Display" name.

The original contact for yourself could have had the "Display" name changed, or another contact was created with the same e-mail address, with your husband's name in the "Display" name.

Having the same e-mail address in multiple contacts can make Thunderbird confused.

The star next to his name is blue. Thanks for sticking with me, Bruce!

After reading your suggestion, I went to my contacts/address book &, because there would be hundreds of names of people with my email address, I thought to look first at MY name/contact...

a-a-a-a-nd, lo & behold, it showed MY name but with my HUSBAND's email address!!!

I have no idea how it got changed, but I fixed it: I changed the email address there to mi & went back to my emails & they ALL were changed back to: "To: Me <my email address>" & an empty star with a blue outline. Thank you, Bruce, soooo much for not giving up on me!!!
