latest update installed, now not able to get emails
12/30/2016 update -now no emails received by Thunderbird. Can send tests! Account accessible on browser.

That sounds like another Norton user trying to get mail through it's firewall. Please check whatever firewall you are using to ensure it allows Thunderbird's latest version.

Although I had previously looked into that possibility, I ran Norton Power Eraser. It did not fix anything directly, but subsequent to that the e-mail worked. ( Maybe 'reboot' or 'animal spirits'). Thanks anyway.
