How do I export an email from my inbox to my Drop box account

Save it as a file (File|Save As). Copy or moved the saved file into the appropriate Dropbox folder.

Alternatively, you may be able to drag and drop an email message from the folder in Thunderbird and into a Dropbox folder.

I prefer the first method because it allows me to make an explicit decision about what file type it will create.
