I need to change the name of someone in my address book, how?
Why is everything so complex and involved? All I need is to change the name that comes up with an email address. The chap is dead, but not his wife. She doesn't want to see his name every time! I don't even know how to get the answer to this.....I'm certainly not going to spend the rest of my life reading through reams of info just for one simple answer. Just email me with a short, simple answer someone, PLEASE.
Chosen solution
Open your Address Book. Tools|Address Book, or ctrl+shift+b
In your Address Book, select "All Address Books".
Search for the name or address in your address book. There is a search box at top right.
Look through what it finds. Choose which one you need to change. Double click it to edit it. You may find you have multiple similar entries. Now is a good time to weed out those you don't really need. Collected Addresses is, IMHO, a bad place to store useful Contacts.
Click "OK" to save your changes.

Thank you so much. Now all I need to know is why does my address book hide many names and addresses and show others? I would like to see all of them and not have to 'click' onto each hidden one to reveal the details. There are so many.
Many of us have contacts with two or more email addresses. By default the Address Book allows you up to three email addresses per Contact, and there are add-ons that allow you to add even more.
I think the search function will let you find these secondary addresses.
But, what do you mean by "hide"? Under what circumstances do you find address that you think otherwise would be hidden? Are they secondary addresses, or in separate address books?
In the address book there is a list of contacts with their names and email addresses. Each one has, on the left, a 'head and shoulders' icon. Further down, there are just icons interspersed with an occasional address. If I 'click' on the icon (or to the right of it) the name and email address is shown but I do not know who is where and must 'click' on each in turn to discover who is there. Why can't they all be shown?
I think you need to look at those empty ones. In my case, they have a "display name" but not the full name entered into the First and Last boxes. Some don't even have an email address because they are from the address book my phone uses, where I am mainly interested in phone numbers and not email addresses.
You may have ahead of you a lot of tedious typing or copying to fix them. :-(
Thank you very much from a technophobe!!!
