I've been having those issues for a while now. i have already uninstalled firefox several times, installed it again several times, i upgraded to the latest version so i am running on 50.0, got it from the website directly.

i have removed all cookies, i have cleared my cache, i disabled addons it all didnt help. i am running windows 7 if thats important for that matter.

now that we got the most frequent stuff aside now to the explantation of the issue.

I am having issues to display certain sites as expected, on facebook the menu bar at the top is totally off, still works but not how intendet.

In some Forums, i cannot click the Button's to ALL the BB Codes, which usually offer u a [URL] XX URL Tag of some sort. they are shown, but not outlined or clickable. (those 2 things work fine in other browsers)

Furthermore, if i want to install addons from the offical site, it only prompts me to ask to install firefox, but i am using the latest version of it, even after upgrading it still did. the same way the plugincheck on the offical website asks me to install firefox, because for now its only for firefox users.

My test page displays your current user agent string (in red text):

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php

Is it still Opera or does resetting the preference work?

One way that old preference values could reappear between the time you exit Firefox and start it up again is a user.js file. The following article has a section on how to check for that, among other issues:

What browser did you use to post your question? It identified itself as:

Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 6.0; Edition Campaign 21) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.15

If that's your Firefox showing its confusion, please see: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

i actually used the firefox browser version 50.0 to post that, but the wrong useragent may be the issue.

i did as the guide said, reset it, cleared cache and cookies, problem still shows up.

uninstalled the opera version i had (in hopes it may be the issue) did the reset again, problems still there.

was looking around for solutions, people mentioned that addons could be an issue. disabled them , reset again, problems still there.

malware shouldn't be the issue, since im regularly running malwarebytes aswell having avira running all the time.

i really dont get now, how it is still detected as opera, since ive also never used an addon to change my useragent.

Thanks alot, there was only one line in the user.js file which basically was the useragent command line.

after deleting the line and resetting the useragent in about:config again everything works flawlessly!
