Wow, your tab bar is using the whole screen. I think it's an incompatible add-on. Try starting in Firefox's Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

that worked, thank you!!!

Hi bogurtlen, Safe Mode is a great diagnostic. Since that avoids the problem, could you check whether any of your extensions might be affecting that area? This is difficult in Safe Mode because all extensions are "pre-disabled" so let me suggest a possible way to attack the problem in regular mode: Firefox's full screen view.

You can open the Add-ons page using one of these methods:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

Then press the F11 key to flip Firefox to its full screen view. That should hide the toolbar area except when you mouse all the way up to the top of the screen, and then it should push down.

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any suspects? My philosophy is, "if in doubt, disable."

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

Note: to exit full screen view, you can press the F11 key again.
