How can I edit a previously created HTML signature file?

The article on "signatures" gives an excellent explanation of how to set up an HTML signature file to associate with Thunderbird user accounts. I must have used this successfully in the past, as I have a folder of .html files, each of which is associated with one of my half dozen or so user accounts. My problem is that I now want to make a fairly minor amendment to one of these, and cannot work out the way to do so. This is a bit embarrassing, as no doubt I am missing something blindingly obvious. However it is some time since I set up my Thunderbird application, and would appreciate a quick pointer to get me off and running again.

Chosen solution

I take it you use those html files directly and don't paste the signature "code" into the box in Account Settings?

You could just start a new message, insert the existing signature, edit it, "save as html" over the original. (If appropriate, open the file and copy its contents back into Thunderbird's account settings.)

Periodically I am asked to add or remove some topical content for my work signature and this procedure usually works.

If it were a minor text change, I'd probably just open the html file in a text editor (I like Notepad++) and edit directly.

Thank you Zenos for your quick response. Either of the suggested methods worked well for me, so problem solved. Mahy thanks.
