Below is what Hostmonster told me was wrong with Thunderbird sending mail through thier service: I don't know what the ehlo-helo value should be .

It's an issue with how thunderbird is presenting itself in the HELO

It's using a method that spammers typically use, by claiming to be a localhost user when it isn't

In the information it is giving, it is claiming to be a localhost user, or coming from 127.0.0.1, when it is not a part of our server at bluehost

The ehlo-helo value needs to be fixed.

Let me guess.

At one moment a few weeks ago someone suggested that I transfer my domain name to a 3rd party host and then reconstruct my site and email etc.

I am guessing something is trying to acquire my domain name and will do whatever it needs to keep me in the dark.

This is only a guess.

I still have no response to this problem.

Garry has sent me a message using Opera. It omits the machine's local address. It appears as if sent using his public IP address, as issued by his ISP.

All the messages I have here that I have looked at and were sent by Thunderbird include the machine's local address, usually some variant of 192.168.0.0/16

None of the ISPs or SMTP servers I can test with have objected to this. So far, I have demonstrated that bt.com, gmx.com and Microsoft's SMTP server are all quite happy with a local private LAN address as the message's origin.

Hostclear are clearly out of line here. Maybe they expect all their clients to use webmail exclusively. ;-)

Hostclear support the use of imap email clients but they do not go further than supporting email if the webmail client they provide such as roundcube work.

If I send mail directly from their webmail client it works of course.

Hostclear doesn't care about the problem if their webmail clients work.

I still don't know how to get Thunderbird to work with hostclear.

Since hostmonster had the same problem I assume all of the related companies have the same problem. Is there no more people with this problem?

It seems clear to me now that if I could have thunderbird omit my machines ip address then I should be able to send mail thru my hosted email accounts.

How do I stop Thunderbird from sending out my machine ip address?

I don't have any experience in this so I will need step by step instructions.
