I receive this error several times a day when sending out emails. I have checked and double checked the outbound server settings and they as correct as far as I can tell. If I restart Thunderbird every thing works OK. Then a few emails latter I get the error again. I have to always check the sent file to see if emails were sent. Any advice on how I can find out what is causing this problem would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you're using a Godaddy IMAP acccount.

We've run into this issue a few times. What I've done and it's been working is to create a 2nd SMTP server instance with a different port number.

For example: under Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP), I have 2 different SMTP servers listed:

Most email programs will default to port 80 on the outgoing email server, but I find the above ports tend to work much better.
