got this banner on my browser claiming to be firefox "improve browser privacy protection" is it genuine

Browsing a site a banner with firefox type logo covered middle of the page saying "improve browser privacy protection" and wanted me to click through. Surely Firefox updates automatically so is this a scam ?

It does sound very suspicious. Do you want to post a link to the page where you saw it? (Probably well down in your history by now...)
