No previous problems but suddenly today Firefox won't open - just the crash reporter comes up. I can't open in safe mode either.

No idea why - not done any software updates lately or Firefox updates, or installed any new programs, so really no idea why it's suddenly stopped working. I was getting prompts to update to 47.0.1 but hadn't got around to doing so.

Latest crash id is: bp-64e238b3-2ad0-40ab-a7cd-e6cda2160913

Thanks so much if you can help. Any help you can give, please make it simple in step by step instructions - I'm not the best at computer matters!

hi tmacp, thanks for providing a crash report id. we have seen quite a number of similar reports about this issue in the last hours and this issue is likely caused by your symantec security software that is hooking into firefox (probably through a program/signature update done by them). other users reported that updating firefox in this situation helped with the crashes. you can download & install the latest firefox from https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-48.0.2-sha1&os=win&lang=en-US

Hi philipp, Thanks for your solution - it has worked for me although I did also have to refresh once the newer version of Firefox was downloaded and installed, so even the new version wasn't happy straight off! But at least it opened so I could refresh and it seems to now be working fine.

Thanks for your help.
