On opening thunderbird, all my email setups and emails were missing.

I opened thunderbird and there was a dialogue box asking me to setup my email. My existing 6 email addresses and their associated emails have all disappeared. I've checked Thunderbird's backup file, under application data and all seems to be there but thunderbird does not seem to be able to access it. Any suggestions on how to get my email history back? thank you Andria

Thanks so much Matt, this looks like it could be what I'm after! If you don't use the right "search terms" it makes finding what you need very difficult... I'll go check it out.
