Thunderbird will not shutdown
Running Thunderbird with Windows 8.1. Thunderbird has started to open itself when I turn the laptop on, and when I close it using the close icon, or task manager it re-opens after a few seconds. Any idea how to stop this happening?

RE: Thunderbird has started to open itself when I turn the laptop on,
Is Thunderbird in your Win 8 Computer start up programs list?
Hi Toad-Hall. No it's not in in the start-up program list.
I have OS Windows Vista and Thunderbird is not in my startup list. It cannot be found in the 'Startup' folder nor via the 'Run' > 'msconfig' method.
However, in my case, Thunderbird is started via my 'Task Scheduler'. Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler Thunderbird is in my list along with Norton and a few others. Thunderbird is triggered to start 'At log on' I use 'Action > Properties to modify conditions and settings etc.
I believe it is also possible for programs to run via eg: windows defender or registry editor.
So there's more than one way of starting up programs. Something is set up on your computer to start Thunderbird, so I would investigate this further to find out what method is used on your computer.
I only looked in Task Manager>Start-up, where my anti virus & other programs are listed, so will investigate other options as you suggest.
However, yesterday and so far today, it is behaving and stays closed when it should. As far as I'm aware, I've done nothing to explain this. Thanks for your replies.
