I can bypass all passwords just by clicking cancel, how to fix that?

What is the point in having passwords for Thunderbird? I just need to click on cancel and the prompting window disappears, so people can access my Thunderbird without any password. This applies even to the Master password.

What am I doing wrong? How to fix this?

Hi Gregoryy, unfortunately, Thunderbird does not have a password for just starting up the program and viewing your already-retrieved mail. The Master Password protects against a third party with physical access viewing your email password or using your saved password to retrieve or send new mail.

Your Windows password should protect against casual access to Thunderbird, assuming you lock your screen when you are away from the keyboard.

It's still possible to access information on disk using alternate methods, so to protect against that, you could consider using folder encryption or whole disk encryption. (Don't make the mistake I once made and forget your password -- kiss that folder goodbye!)
