How to fix when Firefox for Android on Android 7 aka N aka Nougat hangs periodically?
Lately I've had Firefox Android on my Nexus 5X bug out so completely that I no longer know what to do.
Once it locks up, it seems like it just enters some bad loop and never exits. It's completely blank as if the view never get drawn, but Firefox thinks it has.
If I try to scroll all the way up (so that I get the overscroll marker), I get to see remains of the underlying tab instead.
When I close the failing tab... I dont get any toast at the bottom saying tab was closed, like I usually do.
And if I exit/kill Firefox and restart it later... It doesn't remember any changes I've done, or tabs I've closed since it locked up.
It's just absolutely useless now. For me, this started one or two weeks ago, and now it's so bad I can't use Firefox to browse on my phone in 9 out of 10 cases. Before that it was completely fine though. No issues what so ever.
Only addon I have is uBlock Origins. Running latest Android N 7.0 DP5.
This issue has literally forced me to use Chrome instead.
Is this a known bug? Is this just me? Could it be related to synced data? Iirc I'm seeing issues like this on my Nexus 9 tablet as well.

Hi jostein:
Does Firefox work if you uninstall the uBlock Origins add-on? kbrosnan of Firefox QA runs a 5X with Nougat without any ad block add-ons and it works fine for him.
Cheers!

Could be a bug in Firefox, could be a bug in uBlock Origins or both. If you think it's a bug in Firefox please file a bug jostein. Sounds like you are technical enough to file a bug since you have figured out how to get a logcat.
If you want us to file a bug on your behalf, please let us know!
Cheers again! ...Roland
and what version of firefox for android are you using? firefox 48 release? or 49 beta or aurora 50 or nightly 51?

I'm 100% certain this must be a Firefox (beta) issue. The rest of the system works fine, and uBlock origin has been installed all the time without creating other issues.
I agree that issue you've found looks very similar to the one I'm experiencing, so I've added some feedback to that issue instead of creating a new one. Hopefully someone can figure out what's going wrong.
While I don't really think the issue is "fixed" in a meaningfulway yet, I don't think it's any point keeping this issue open. I'll close it for now.
Thanks for the help so far.
