So why don't you tell us what you DO see, or post a picture of it?

This (below) is what the account settings pane looks like. There are at least four ways to open it. Have you not been able to find even one of them?

  1. Tools|Account Settings (in windows; mac and linux are different)
  2. |Options|Account Settings
  3. Select an account; select "Settings" in the right hand pane
  4. Right-click an account; select Settings from the pop-up menu

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac for differences in the menus between Windows, Mac and Linux.

Which OS are you using? In the absence of any mention of the OS, we have to assume Windows because that's what most people use. The menu options in particular differ between operating systems.

The new installation of Thunderbird found the profile left there the last time you tried it. If you want a clean start, close Thunderbird and delete your old profile.

Otherwise, go to Tools|Account Settings.

You will see the Account Settings window. There is a tall panel at the left-hand side listing your accounts. At the bottom edge of this panel is a button which reveals a drop down menu when clicked. I can't tell you what text will appear on this button as it has stupidly been designed to show the last action you used it for. It used to be labelled "Account Actions".

Select the unwanted account, then click the Button Formerly Known As Account Actions, and select Remove Account. If this option is greyed out, it's probably because the selected account is set as the default account. So you'll need to set another account as default first.

There is a small possibility with some smaller wide-screen format displays that the Accounts Settings window is taller than your display and typically this means the bottom of this Account Settings window may be cut off. This might explain why you couldn't find this button. Look to the bottom and check if you can actually see the lower edge of the Settings window.

Thunderbird works for me in Windows 10, though many users experience slowness.

not helped unfortunately the info for 'otherwise go to tools' onwards does not work.As what i see is not not like the description at all this is the second time i have had this problem
