Let's check whether Windows has stashed away any backup copies.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
- (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then scroll down to logins.json and right-click it and choose Properties. Normally Windows 7 will show a tab called Previous Versions. This lists out any copies of this file stored in Windows restore points or backups. If you find one that you want to try restoring, I suggest saving a few different date files out to a different folder first* before replacing the existing logins.json file with a promising candidate.
Note: If you changed your master password recently, you may also need to restore the key3.db file from the same date to allow Firefox to decrypt the passwords in the logins.json file from that date.
Start Firefox back up again. Are your passwords back?
* For this, use the Copy... button instead of the Restore button

Hey Jscher2000,
Wow you are brilliant and a live saver its just my bad that I didnt have any back up or restore point since the past 5year's been using this notebook the space is limited and restricted to create any backup,
One lesson learned that was important,
I truly appreciate your kind assistance ,
God bless !
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
Password Exporter 1.2.1 by Justin Scott (fligtar), Jorge Villalobos Password Exporter {web link} This extension allows you to export your saved passwords and disabled login hosts using XML or CSV files that can be imported later.
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.
