Somehow the junk folder got into deleted items and I deleted it before I realized my mistake. How do I get the icon back. I created a new sub folder called junk but nothing happened.

Chosen solution

I'd expect Thunderbird to create a new Junk folder when it's needed. So if it is set to move messages to their Junk folder when marked as Junk, all you should need to do is mark one message as Junk.

Alternatively, there is an add-on called Folder Flags which adds a Flags tab to each folder's Properties page. This allows you to designate your hand-made folder as a formal Junk-type folder.

Thanks - I turned a new folder into a Junk folder but had to name it junky as it wouldn't let me create a junk folder as it said one already existed which I expected. Changed toe properties flag to junk so all should be good. Thanks.
